There are number of organizations such as federal government, state agencies and other social welfare organization who offer financial grants and scholarships. You no need to be worried for repayment, as it is a support to the scholar as well other special category students to access higher education.

Federal Pell Grant


The Federal Pell Grant is available for all categories of college students as there is no requirement of minimum grade points or any other academic scores. If you are attending the school then you are eligible to get a maximum of $4,050.

You can obtain a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) from The U.S. Department of Education and your answers in the application form will determine your eligibility to receive a grant. In the month of January every year you can have that form and need to submit as soon by January as possible.

If you are an undergraduate and want to receive a Federal Pell grant then your school will credit your school can credit the Pell Grant funds to your school account, pay you directly (usually by check), or combine these methods. The school must tell you in writing how and when you'll be paid and how much your award will be. Schools must pay you at least once per term (semester, trimester, or quarter). Schools that do not use formally defined, traditional terms must pay you at least twice per academic year.

The federal government approves enough funds to pay the Federal Pell Grants of all eligible students.

Eligible students


  • The applicants must be continuing their first undergraduate degree.
  • Only U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens are eligible to apply.
  • The applicants must have completed high school diploma, GED.

Ineligible students


  • Imprisoned students.
  • Students who are defaulter of a Title IV grant.
  • Males who have not registered with the Selective Service.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)


Whether you are a full-time or a part-time student you can avail Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant from your respective schools. This grant is range from $100 to $4,000. The financial aid office of your college will decide your eligibility from your EFC as reported on your ISIR (student aid report).

Eligibility


  • Undergraduate students who cannot afford to meet their financial needs during studying.
  • In the case of a recipient of Federal Pell Grant will get the priority in qualifying FSEOG yet not confirmed.

ACG (Academic Competitiveness Grant) and National SMART Grant


According to the Higher Education Reconciliation Act of 2005 two new grants such as ACG and National SMART Grant has introduced to meet the growing need of improved math and science instruction.
  • The ACG (Academic Competitiveness Grant) is offered for the first two years of undergraduate study.
  • National SMART Grant (National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent) is offered for the third and fourth year of undergraduate study.
